Last week I started sewing the birthdaypressents for the twin boys of my sister. I decided to make them a pullover from fleece. So I went to Alkmaar city and bought 4 meters of fleece 2 in carrot orange and 2 in bright green. Than it was cut and mix time and I ended up with 2 pullovers that are green with orange accents and orange with green accents. I forgot to take pictures though….. shame on me. But they liked their pullovers and that is what counts! Firts thing my sister asked me: can you make me those pullovers with a zipper please? 4 VESTS to be made than! lol. I am getting payed for those so that is a good thing. I have started to save money to buy me one of these . They are expencive but I realy want one. So I decided to try and make bags and childerens clothings to sell so I can raise some money to buy me one…. yep this is going to be the plan but it will take me years….i know i know…lol
Then somewhere in the middle of that week i got the flue… no not the mexican but the normal season flue…. I felt terrible and had high fevers. than I had to bring my little prince in for his 1st mexican flue shot and he reacted horrible to it. he developed high fevers and became realy ill… i decided to leave the 2nd shot for what it is… we are not going back there…..ever again if it depends on me.
The bag I made a couple of weeks ago is almost finished, only a few hang and closing stuf to be attached and than that is fini as well…
I liked the idea the teacher had ( I made this during a workshop beginning of november ) but in the end I kept on making changes to personalize the endresult. I made a boxed bottom and some closing loops with d-rings. The whole thing is pink/red/white and I used all things that were in my stash anyway. So it realy didn’t cost that much money to make it.
Than after I finaly finished the pullovers last week, I started on the disapearing 9 patch quilt for my pince, I started this quilt when he was only a few weeks old…. he will turn 1 on the 5th of December. It will be a 1 person bedquilt, when he is old enough to sleep in a normal bed the darn dino-quilt will be finished… I hope… lol. It has lots and lots of colors; pink/purple/green/yellow/bleu/orange…. almost every color of the rainbow. I also need to get thinking about something quilty for my sis in law. She is deu the beginning of Jan. andthe little one needs to have something nice to cuddle up in…. just don’t know what… oh well.. it’ll come to me.
Than last friday I went on a surprise tripp to my sister, she turned 40 and didn’t know I was comming over. We had good tasty “limburgse vlaai” and on saturday I went home again ( with a detour because I bought some fleece for the vests and other nice couplons that were half price ). yep… that’s about it. nothing more to tell…. oh wait
This afternoon we ( hubby, princess, prince and moi ) are going to see SINTERKLAAS… google him and find out that the santa claus is in fact: SINTERKLAAS !!!! he gives pressents to little childeren rides on a white horse on the roofs of the houses, he has helpers called “zwarte piet” meaning something like black peter. ( they became black because they have to go through chimneys and there is a lot of black stuff in there ) Sinterklaas only gives presents to nice kids, he has a book with all the names of every child and wether they are nice or naughty…. Do you see the simelarity’s? hahahaha yes, we have Sinterklaas you have Santa claus…..sounds almost the same…. Anyway, we are going to visit him at hubby’s work today and I can’t wait to see my princesses face when she’ll see him… she is a strong believer!
Have a happy Sunday you all!

I know I have been absent lately but all I did was sew sew sew and some awful lot more of sewing and guess what? I do not even have a picture to show for it!
Last Sunday - Easter Sunday that is - my best friend did her religious out-comming. She told God and the world that she is going to follow Him, takes His hand and let Him lead her through her life. NO , she isn’t going to be a Non, but she confirmed her baptism.
She told me 3 weeks before the ceremony which gave me only 3 weeks to come up with something memorable to have as a keepsake for her in later life. I contacted her Mom - bless her - and she asked all kind of family members and friends etc etc to pitch in and write some wise words on a little scrap of fabric…..
Than she send them all back to me and I made them into Quilt top. I used very light pink because a) she Fancy’s pink a lot and b) soft pink is the Catholic color of the last Sunday before Easter - palmeaster? We are in the stages of embroidering John 10:14 I am the good Sheppard on it and on the outside I appliqued the words : Faith, Hope & Love ( in dutch of course ).
I couldn’t tell about it on my blog because I KNOW she reads my blog, I couldn’t even give you all a hint because I knew she would understand it and go look for the answer…. so all I could do was try to shut up and do the best I can to complete at least the top in time.
So last Saturday evening at 22.55 hours, I stops sewing, pushed the on/off button on my Bernie and called the top finished….. went to bed and forgot to take a picture… duh Dumbo as I am!
So Rian if you are reading this and have a picture on standby, please mail it to me so I can have it published on this weblog for the world to see?!?!?!
Hope you all had a good Easterweekend!
On Monday I visited the grave of my mom for the first time, ( she died last Sunday 2 years ago ) and I have planted some pink tea-roses which I think she would have liked very much.
There goes not 1 day bye without thinking of her, and I miss her terribly, but I also know that life goes on and I have to go forward and can not stay back in time. I have a family of my own now, I need to be there for them, so I am working on myself trying to get back insinc with the time-frame the rest of the world is in…..
And going to visit my mom’s grave has brought me one step closer to your time-frame… please wait for me on the end of this journey?!
Now that my son is home, I have started on creating him a quilt. Him being a boy means I can’t use any of the lovely soft pinks and greens, flowers and puppet fabrics that I have in my “stash” so I had to go online and order some from america. My eye fell on a couple of charmpacks from moda with dino’s on them in bright red, bleu, green, yellow and purple colors. I combined them with 3 differend shades of yellow and sewed them together in 9 patches….
So yesterday I started to sew the ninpatches and cut them up again to create disapearing ninepatch blocks. It is all very bright indeed, maybe a bit to much but hey, He will be a little boy anyway and I think kids like bright and vibrant colorcombo’s.
While I was buying online anyway, I decided I needed a couple of more of those SP’s and well… the 3 dino ones weren’t the end of it! Last week the packages arrived and I had a total of 15 SP’s on my table ready to be admired! yes 15!!!! I am just sooooo in love with those SP’s, I am planning on buying more and create myself a nice blankie for when I am watching P&P on the dvd ( Jane Austen movies… I can’t get enough of them! ). I think I need some guidance, As you know I have bought a Bernina a couple of months ago, And I love sewing with it, but I am not sure about what thread to use when quilting and how to start sewing those nice feathery things and blocks…. if you have any advice for me please let me know because I realy want to learn how to quilt with my machine ( not larger than babyquilts though because I can’t get a 2 pers. quilt through the arm of my Bernie ).
thanks for reading, will post pictures later on today
hugs fro now!

Hi there! Yes bizzy bizzy at the moment. We are decorating princesses room, preparing little prince his room and driving up to hospital several times a day. As I may have told before, I need sewing and quilting to get my thoughts straight and the last couple of evenings - after returning home from hospital - I have been sewing to get my thoughts straight again. I have been finishing the scrappy stars all over blocks, now I want to make heartblocks to go with the star blocks… I also made some oven-mittens but I think I did something wrong; they fit me perfect but… hubby has bigger hands and he complains that the new mittens are to small for his hands! I have run out of insul-bright and since I bought it at a quilt-market I don’t know were to buy the stuff in the Netherlands. But he liked the idea of these mittens and asked me to make some for him too!
Over here in the Netherlands we have a radiostation called radio 2 and they are airing the top-2000 ever at the moment. It is a anual event and it means that we have the radio on every waking moment of the day, even now that I am typing this I am listening to it on-line! ( click on the link and get a streaming live webcam with the music! ) Lots of oldies and great Dutch songs too, oh how I love to sing along as loud as I can, lololol.
Hugs to all for now
